Chromosome staining/banding/FISH
Constitutive heterochromatin was detected in the centromere region of most of the chromosomes. Heterochromatin was observed in the centromeric region of the Z sex chromosome. The W chromosome had a large heterochromatic block that extended along both chromosome arms. The NOR was detected by silver staining (Ag-NOR) and the FISH technique (using the 18S rDNA probe) on the short arm of the fourth metacentric pair. The 5S rDNA sites were located in the terminal regions on the short arms of eight ch
